Knowledge Hub Overview

Qatar’s investment in education, biomedical research, oil & gas, and culture, has given rise to knowledge hubs that attract renowned professors, scientists, engineers and art connoisseurs. This has raised Qatar’s profile as an events destination where attendees can learn and share knowledge in world-class venues and the spaces beyond.

Significant Convention Centres

Qatar has invested in developing an unrivalled portfolio of state-of-the-art event facilities, notably Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) and the new Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), purpose-built to the highest international standards and capable of catering for the largest international conventions and exhibitions.

Access

Qatar Airways, winner of the ‘World’s Best Airline’ award, connects Doha to more than 158 key business and leisure destinations across six continents. The state-ofthe-art Hamad International Airport (HIA), which opened in April 2014, is conveniently located just south of Doha city. It can handle 8,700 passengers per hour and will gradually increase capacity from 30 million passengers to 50 million per year.

Accommodation

Doha’s top hotels offer everything needed to stage a professional conference or meeting. All hotels have experienced, multi-lingual staff dedicated to the needs of corporate and business clients.

Pre-Post Convention Tours

Qatar offers a wide range of attractions, including fine museums, galleries, public art installations, archaeological sites, forts and towers, as well as vibrant and modern living spaces.

DMC's/PCO's

The country has a number of well-qualified and experienced destination management companies (DMCs) and professional conference organisers (PCOs).

Visa-free entry

In August 2017, Qatar announced visa-free entry for citizens of 80 countries, including China, Russia and India. Citizens of those countries no longer need to apply or pay for a visa; instead, a multi-entry waiver is issued free-of-charge at the port of entry, upon presentation of a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket.
